2018 CWSGA Spring Newsletter

2018 CWSGA SPRING NEWSLETTER

March 6, 2017

Dear Members,

Another golf season is just around the corner.  We still have a lot of snow here in Montreal, but from past experience I know it will soon disappear and we will be in a new golfing season.  I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our new members.   We all are looking forward to meeting you.

We had a wonderful time at our National Tournament last September at Le Manor Richelieu - in spite of the weather.  Quebec President, Ann Pate, and Tournament Chair, Janet McCartney, and their committee worked very hard to organize our tournament and visit in the beautiful Charlevoix.  Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence River because of the rain and the fog.  And because of the weather we were only able to play 27 holes for the tournament.  Congratulations to Carole Pigott for winning the championship and congratulations to all of the other 2017 prize winners as well.

The U.S. Senior Women't Golf Association invited the CWSGA to send a team of ten ladies to defend the Ann Taylor Green Trophy, a team match that is played about every four years, with the host alternating between the USSWGA and the CWSGA.  We went to Manchester, VT in September 2017 and in spite of perfect weather our golf was not very perfect and we allowed the USSWGA team to capture the trophy.
In spite of this, we all had a wonderful time meeting and playing golf with some of our American counterparts.

This year our National Tournament will be held Sept. 4-8 in Huntsville, Ontario.  We will be staying at the Deerhurst Resort and  will be playing two golf courses there, The Highlands course at Deerhurst, and Grandview Golf Club, an award winning course designed by Mark O'Meara.  Ontario President, Mj. Stewart, and Tournament Chair, Carroll Nicholls Baker, are working hard to make this a fun and memorable event.

Attached are the Minutes of the Annual Meeting held at La Malbaie, Quebec, September 2017, and attached is a copy of our financial statement for the year ended September 30, 2017.  Thank you very much to Kerr Financial and Gitta Kerr for your help in preparing this financial statement.

Enjoy the rest of the winter and I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the Deerhurst Resort in September.

Yours Truly,

Wendy Loucks
