NATIONAL FALL NEWSLETTER
Welcome to Fall, and with that another great golfing season has come to an end.

There is a lot of information I want to pass on to everyone so you are all up to date on all our future plans

A big thank you to Audrey Charlebois, Quebec President, Marsha Lindsay, Tournament Chair, Barbara Langley, Prize Chair, plus all the Quebec Members, who helped make the 97th Annual Tournament such an outstanding success. We had 141 Members attend. The weather was very co-operative.

Congratulations to all the winners. A list of the winners along with their pictures was sent out to everyone by Sheila after the Tournament in September.

The National Executive Committee at the Spring meeting voted to start investigating setting up a Scholarship Fund as part of our Centennial Celebrations. Donna Howell, Carroll Baker and I have had meetings with the Development & Events Staff at Golf Canada and found them to be most helpful.

Golf Canada has an established Scholarship & Grants program consisting of 11 separate funds which awards an annual scholarship of amounts from $1,000.00 to $7,500.00. Each Scholarship fund has different criteria which are determined by the people who establish the fund in discussions and guidance from the Golf Canada Foundation.

This new initiative was brought up at the Annual General Meeting and met with overwhelming support. A Scholarship Committee has been formed with a representative from each Province together with a Chair.
They will set up the criteria and funding requirements with a presentation going to the NEC in May and the full Membership at the National Meeting in September.

The following Members have agreed to sit on this Committee.
Marilyn Field-Marsham - Chair -Ontario
Ann Carter  - Ontario
Carol Bream  - Quebec
Luanne Culberson - New Brunswick

Centennial Committee - 2022
The National Executive has also set up a Centennial Committee to plan special events for our 100th Anniversary in 2022. They will work with the NEC, Quebec Executive, Quebec Tournament Chair and a Committee to be formed for the USSGA - Canada Tournament.

The Executive has voted to put away a certain amount of money each year for the next 3 years to help underwrite this very important time in our CWSGA history.

The following Members from each Province have agreed to sit on this Committee.

Marsha Lindsay - Chair - Quebec
Rosemary McIntosh - Ontario
Kathy Hicks - New Brunswick
Tammy Laforty - Quebec

NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS
Contracts have now been signed for the next 3 years. The process in finding locations that fit our criteria and budget is not an easy one. Our Provincial Presidents and Vice Presidents start their search 2-3 years in advance looking for two golf courses, with a Hotel near by or on property that has two queen beds per room, plus banquet facilities that can accommodate our Members, a Town nearby in case of inclement weather. We also have to be very considerate of the price points. We have the potential to have all our Members(300) show up to our National tournament as everyone agreed to do when they became Members. CWSGA must be prepared to accommodate all Members to the National Tournament especially when it is held in Quebec or Ontario. Our New Brunswick Tournament has always only been able to accommodate 128 golfers due to St. Andrews only having one course.
Every effort is made to find best locations to fit everyone's tastes. Golf of course is important, but most important of all is renewing the friendships we have made over the years and making new friends each year that we look forward to seeing at the next National.

To that end I would like to announce the following locations:

2020 - September 8th-12th - St. Andrews New Brunswick
2021 - September 7th-11th - Deerhurst, with a BIG SURPRISE

100th ANNIVERSARY
2022 - September 6th -10th - Fairmont Mount Tremblant

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Satellite
Tournament in February.

National President
